Musician, Singer, Talent agent and Music Producer

 

JOHN HENDERSON

A longtime writer, producer, and musician, John has had a diverse career. As an artist,

John has worked and toured with such notable acts as Change, Bionic Boogie and Kano. After working as a road manager and bandleader, he went on to become the first black agent at the Norby Walters Agency in New York. At Norby Walters, and later, at Famous Artists, John booked The Commodores, Kool & the Gang, Rick James, and Luther Vandross, and others.

In 1991, John co-founded Hollywood East Entertainment, for Production, Publishing & Management. He wrote and produced for the Joneses on Karousell Records in the USA, and PVine Records in Japan, and produced the 1992 CD “Christmas Rappin’” on Essex Records, and BMG 1993-99. In 1998, John produced “Cuando Pienso en Ti” for RMM Records artist Isidro Infante.

John began managing Latin sensation Kevin Ceballo in 1999, and oversaw Kevin’s win of Univision’s “New Artist of the Year” award in 2001. John co-wrote and produced two songs for Kevin’s RMM Records CD, (Sept. 2000). Kevin’s debut single “Mi Primer Amor” remained #1 for 7 weeks on the Latin Tropical charts. Kevin became a Universal recording artist in May, 2001. His first English single, “My First Love” debuted at #61 in the Top 200 in Dec. 2001, and spent several weeks at #1 on New York’s WKTU. John and Kevin co-wrote “Quiero Bailar”, also a #1 in Panama and Costa Rica in Spring ‘01. In spring 2003, Kevin’s second Latin CD came out on Universal, and the first 2 singles both reached #2. 

In early 2002, John helped arrange live concert shoots of Ice-T and Juvenile for LA based STSMedia. Image Entertainment released DVDs in Nov. 2002 for broadcast & Home Video. In early 2003, he co-produced 2 DVDs for STS entitled “Kings of Hip Hop”, Founders & Classics.Released in January 2004 by Image, the shows featured Afrika Bambaataa, Rob Base, Kurtis Blow and Furious Five, among others.

John continues to work in his studio, The Groove Room, producing his own material and outside artists. John returned to American Talent as a booking agent, and has grown into an active role in booking their roster of talent, finding new acts, and working with promoters to put on exciting shows throughout the U.S. and overseas.
